Lulu is the best nail professional. I can't just call her a manicurist because she's a rare talent. The other service she provides are eyelash extensions. Again, the best I've found. If that wasn't enough, she is friendly, funny , and caring. I love her.

I had a recent trip to New York got a Japanese gel manicure that was 100 times better than my SF OPI manicures and wanted to find a place that provided them in SF - so thankful to find Lulu! The location is central in Pac Heights and very serene. Lulu only takes appointments and I appreciate this since it's such a mess getting your nails done in most SF nail salons these days. Lulu took the time to help me find "the best red" with that suited my skin tone and it was so fun getting to know her during my appointment. This business feels like a relaxing spa appointment and I'm so excited to go back in a few weeks.

An amazing gel manicure using Japanese gel (high quality) and nail art. I am so pleased! Showed her inspiration photos and she was able to replicate but also add her own creative spin. Such a meticulous session and she took great care to trim and shape my nails. They turned out so good! I will happily be back for more amazing manicures. You won't go wrong here, especially if you are looking for intricate nail art.

This is one of the most luxurious nail spas I've had the pleasure I'd being in..from the moment you enter the door(you are the only client during this pandemic time) lulu totally respects and observes all hygienic measures..mask gloves, cleaning products..even the luxury of the environment is so restful..beautiful chandeliers..artwork lovely..no pedicure chairs but giant loungers do you're not constricted..she's wonderful at brows and waxing as well..this is a I've stop Beauty experience and I recommend her highly..you will not be disappointed..

First time I came here today and was probably one of the best mani/pedi experiences I've had! Due to COVID, they're only serving one customer at a time and so you have the whole place to yourself. It was such a peaceful and relaxing experience, very nice and clean. Also, love the selection of colors they had for gel -- too many to colors to choose from! Very happy with their service.

Can't recommend this place enough! I usually do my own nails at home, but I went here about 4 weeks ago to get a gel manicure before an extended vacation, hoping for something that would last the whole trip. I'm back 4 weeks later, and my manicure has not chipped at all! The manicure stayed perfectly intact and the gel kept my nails strong - I've never had a manicure grow out before chipping or breaking! The experience was wonderful. The salon is very calming and everyone is so nice. The woman who did my nails created a beautiful almond shape, which turned out just like I imagined. And she was so careful and precise painting the French tip. I take very good care of my cuticles, so I appreciated that she only pushed them down instead of insisting on cutting them like other salons do. I almost never get my nails professionally done, but I will definitely be back here for special occasion and long lasting manicures!

This is my favorite nail salon. I have my nails done before my birthday. It stays longer than a month I even still have them on now. They are unique, creative and great services; also great environment. Every time I come here I have my own design and no matter what, they will still able to do it for me. I appreciated their help and services. Every time I leave the store, I have what I want on my nails. I will keep coming and bring my favorite people to here if they want to do nails!

I have SOOOOOOOOOOOO many amazing things to say about velvety. I literally denounced getting my nails done before coming here. My visits are usually every 3-6 weeks depending on my timing and how crazy my nails get, but all I have to say is that Lulu is a master artist and her team are nothing but professional, lovely, and caring women. I discovered Velvety last year after I had been so fed up with going to the typical salon. I would see some had good reviews but service was always SO lacking. The salon was stressful, loud, smelled of chemicals and the technicians would often mess my nails up or make the gel too thick. I felt so frustrated I even told my fiancé "I'm trying one last place and if this doesn't work out I'm literally never getting a manicure again!" Little to my surprise, would I find the loveliest nail spa ever in August of 2017. I came in with some random photos I found on Instagram from a Japanese nail page and I showed the nail technician. She told me "Lulu is away right now but when she arrives she can do it." I didn't think much of it, the manicure was already perfect so I was grateful for the woman helping me. Then Lulu arrived and she did my art, I learned all about how she became inspired to learn and her studies in Asia and her journey to open Velvety. I went for six months straight, frankly my manicures could usually go a little bit longer but I had so much fun seeing my art ideas interpreted by Lulu! I started seeing Jun regularly, who would always do the massage/nail clean up/filing and then the first coat of paint. Lulu then took over and would do the art and we got into this regular cadence. I took a 4 month break around February because my nails were very dry (I think this was due to winter time and not the regular manicures) and I just felt like I had to let them breathe. On top of that, life got in the way with starting a new job and having much to do. When I called again for an appointment, Lulu still remembered me and was wondering where I'd been! That kind of human touch and lovely interfacing is why I always come back to Velvety. Everytime I stop by, at least one other regular comes in and the whole staff treats them like they are a VIP. Returning for the first time in a few months was the ultimate therapy. I definitely realized I can't go that long without seeing Jun, Lulu, and all the lovely women at the shop because at this point, it's like going too long without seeing some of my favorite friends :) Take a look at my photos to see some of the beautiful nail art Lulu has crafted for me. You can bring anything to her and she will make it even more beautiful! Even if you just want a no frills mani or pedi, the work here is impeccable and my hands and feet are always super soft and the paint lasts 1-2 months. If I ever moved away I have nooooo idea what I would do but I know I'd prioritize a visit to Velvety everytime I made it back to the area :) I have been bad about taking photos of my manicures but I have attached a few examples of the ones I've had done the last few months. I always do Japanese gel (shinier and works better for nail art I think because of the liquidity of it) and it is what I credit for my nails growing long. I believe Japanese gel manicures art $35 and nail art is 4-5$ per nail. The music is always soft and peaceful, the recliners are super cushy and comfortable, the pedicures give you a beautiful bowl of warm water with rose buds... not sure what else you could ask for in an oasis in the middle of the city. This is 100% a spa and a place that should be savored in a peaceful mindset alone or with a friend. Don't hesitate to call and make an appointment - this is easily the best nail spa in all of SF!

Hands down or should I say " Nails down ", this is by far the best place nail shop in the city. When I have gotten my nails down by other shops in the past i walk out the door 20 minutes later. They just cut , clean, and polish my nail and the whole time I'm feeling uncomfortable because I swear they are talking about me. Not this place !!! You get the works; massage, warm lotion, awesome color choices , great service , perfection, and a sweet technician. I had the privilege of having Denise do my nails and she did such an Amazing amazing amazing job with my gel manicure . Denise took her time with my nails and made sure each and every nail was perfect. I will be coming back to see her on my next visit . The manager was amazing as well as she walked around the shop greeting customers and making sure our nails were up to par . I will never yo another shop and neither should you!!!!

Treat yourself with the luxurious Velvety Special. Priced at $60, the signature mani and pedi treatment will revitalize your skin and relax your muscled. Your feet is scrubbed clean, massaged with warm lotion and finished off with a gentle seaweed mask. Spaaaah. Wish it wasn't as full the Saturday we came in, the constant chatter made the experience a bit less relaxing. That won't stop me from coming in again, perhaps on a weekday.
